Clinging Spicebloom

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is white with black speckles.

The numerous branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of huge, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in yellow, subtle green and lilac varieties.

In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, grey blossoms with wide petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like bleach.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, long, curved fruit. The leathery orange skin is delicate and edible when cooked; it is salty, and the slightly crunchy subtle green flesh is very spicy and juicy. The cream seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
