Copperleaf

Flower type: Perennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its copper stem is thick, and the huge, yellow leaves are broad, flat with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Each stem splits 3 to 8 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with alternating petals of amber and azure, with a crimson central disk. The flower head is made up of 10 petals in raised layers. They fall easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like cherry, and it has very little pollen, but can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind and is ignored by most insect species.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
