Silverleaf Bloodfruit
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, straight trunk covered in delicate, rough, silver bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale yellow.
The abundance of branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with thick bunches of giant, stiff, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in grey, magenta and cream varieties.
In early spring, it produces handfuls of large, black blossoms with spear shaped petals. They detach easily and have an intense scent that smells like citrus.
In early winter it produces , pleated fruit. The waxy brown skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is spicy and salty, and the very soft blood red flesh is sweet and syrupy. The black seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
