Waterstem Rose

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized flower grows up to 11 inches (28 cm) tall. Its gray stem is very thin, and the tiny, moss green leaves are fan-like with jagged edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

2 to 6 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 26 cm (10.2 inches) wide, with petals that are pink at the sides and lime at the center. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cup. They are hardy.

It has a weak scent that smells like perfume, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.
