Mistberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 68 feet (20.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 71 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, angular trunk covered in smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is burgundy.

The excessive amount of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, finger-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are dark brown on the sides and green at the center.

In early spring, it produces many large, blood red blossoms with cylindrical shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like misty mornings.

In late autumn it produces small, oval fruit. The waxy pale blue skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is sour, and the soft dark brown flesh is sweet and powdery. The bronze seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
