Magenta Moss

This magenta moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps On rotten logs, In marshes, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is small, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they are slow to spread and grow, and is very rigid; it takes a lot of damage when trodden on.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release hundred of spores.
