Turquoise

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This huge flower grows up to 14.1 feet (4.3 meters) tall. Its dark yellow or green stem is very thin and splits into 7 branching stems halfway up, and the large, lime green leaves are dark gray-green on the underside and are perforated with smooth edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 6 to 12 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 53 cm (20.9 inches) wide, with petals that are turquoise at the sides and pastel orange at the center. The flower head is largely flat with several widely spaced narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a weak scent that smells like ashes, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.

Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
