Silverfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 62 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a branched, curved trunk covered in thick, silky, silver and white bark, and inside, the flexible wood is mahogany-coloured.
The branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of giant, thick leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are bronze and yellow.
In early spring, it produces many large, cream blossoms with cylindrical shaped petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like coffee.
In early winter it produces large, 2 pointed fruit. The smooth pastel yellow skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy silver flesh is slightly bitter and very dry. The muted green seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
