Copper

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its gray-green stem is thin and straight with a curved tip, and the small, deep green leaves are light copper on the underside and are stiff, pointed with irregular edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 6 to 8 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 20 cm (7.9 inches) wide, with alternating petals of hazel and orange, with a caramel central disk. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 38 raised, round-tipped petals. They detach easily.

It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like onion, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
