Turquoise Succulent

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This enormous cactus grows up to 109 feet (33.2 meters) tall. The finger-like stem is light brown and green, and is covered in thick sheets of rigid lime spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 14 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid faded purple petals and a beige central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 5 years. The flower head is shaped like a cup made up of handfuls of tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a strong scent that smells like an ocean breeze.

The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the bold red flesh is waxy, and the turquoise sap is thin.

It comes in 14 varieties, each with a different petal colour.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
