Purple Creeper

Climbing plant type: Creeper (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This large creeper is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 353 feet (107.6 meters) and growing as high as 121 feet (36.9 meters).

It takes 12 months for the green stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 1.3 feet (41 cm) and are smooth and woody.

The triangular, smooth leaves reach up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) in length. They are either bright purple or black, with dark brown lines, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the creeper produces a thick sheet of average crimson flowers, and during the early summer, after flowering, it produces a modest amount of large berries.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
