Burgundytwig

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 43 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several stocky, wonky stems covered in very thick, ridged, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of giant, spear shaped, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are yellow with slate tips, sturdy and covered in fine hairs.

In early summer it produces a handful of tiny, hazel blossoms with circular petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like fresh linen.

In midwinter pentagon-shaped fruits ripen. The fuzzy pale green skin is thin and edible when cooked; it is bitter, and the very soft dark grey flesh is sour and dry. The grey seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

It only grows on the most fertile lands.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
