Burgundy Conifer

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This big tree grows up to 65 meters (213.3 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 460 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a flexible, wavy trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, burgundy bark, and inside, the very light wood is white.

The branches are short and slender, with thousands of twigs covered with very large amounts of tiny, gray-green needles. The needles themselves are strong.

In late summer it produces tiny, lime, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
