Cyanflower

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This small flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stems grow in bunches of 8 and are very thick and straight, and the small, slate leaves are very thick with jagged edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two tiny flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 11 cm (4.3 inches) wide, with cyan petals and a light brown central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 24 petals. They are sturdy.

It has a weak scent that smells like candle wax, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by some specific types of insect.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
