Silvervine

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) tall. Its silver stem is very thick and straight, and the miniature, orange leaves are long, tapering with wavy edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with alternating petals of pink and olive, with an amber central disk. The flower head is shaped like a tube made up of dozens of tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like pot-purri, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
