Azureleaf Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 148 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, twisting trunk covered in hard, ridged, gray bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are very long and thick and are covered with handfuls of smooth, huge, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are azure on the sides and pink at the center.

In late summer it forms giant, vivid blue aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
