Bloodfern

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This enormous tree grows up to 94 meters (308.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 307 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a branched, wavy trunk covered in very thick, wrinkled, dark brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is silver.

The small handful of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of leathery, huge, wispy leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid blood red or pink, with indigo edges.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, brown seed pods.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
