Indigo Tree

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in rough, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with handfuls of covered in fine hairs, small, very narrow and elongated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and indigo.

In late summer it forms giant, orange, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
