Redwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow-brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of smooth, huge, sickle shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either red or light brown, with sky blue streaks.

In early spring, it produces dozens of large, vivid red blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like bonfire smoke.

In late summer it forms large, caramel aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
