Burgundy-Fir

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for over 3,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 3948 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in hard, silky, dark gray bark, and inside, the light wood is burgundy-brown.

The thick clumps of branches trail down to the ground, with thousands of twigs covered with handfuls of tiny, red needles. The needles themselves are rigid.

In late summer it produces large, green, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
