Copperleaf Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 490 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in thin, cracked, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is black.
The branches are very long and thin and are covered with handfuls of leathery, small, long, narrow leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid orange with indigo streaks.
In early spring, it produces lots of large, deep orange blossoms with spear shaped petals. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like cherry.
In late summer it forms small, silver, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is very resistant to fire damage.
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
