Crimson Sunflower
Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its stem)This big flower grows up to 2.6 feet (79 cm) tall. Its yellow stem is very thick and splits into 5 branching stems at the top, and the large, red leaves are brown on the underside and are circular with jagged edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
Each stem splits 2 to 8 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 31 cm (12.2 inches) wide, with crimson petals and a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of 4 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.
It has a delicate scent that smells like soap, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
