Burgundy Firevine

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.4 feet (43 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is thick, and the miniature, emerald and gray leaves are black on the underside and are very thick with irregular edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Lots of small flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 17 cm (6.7 inches) wide, with petals that are cyan at the sides and pink at the center. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 9 raised, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like marzipan, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.

Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
