Indigo

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, wavy trunk covered in thin, silky, brown and grey bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of huge, broad, flat leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are aquamarine and sky blue.

In early spring, it produces many giant, indigo blossoms with 7 spiral shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a faint scent that smells like freshly washed clothes.

In late summer it produces large, stiff, pointed fruit. The leathery amber skin is thin and inedible, and the slightly crunchy bold red flesh is sour and sticky. The olive seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for making strong rope
