Magenta
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This giant shrub grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 102 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of knobbly, angular stems covered in fine, rough, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.
The branches trail down to the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of huge, very thick, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are dark grey and pale purple, light and smooth.
In mid-summer it produces large amounts of medium-sized, green blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like apple.
In late winter circular fruits ripen. The smooth magenta skin is thick and sweet, and the slightly crunchy deep blue flesh is overwhelmingly salty and very dry. The yellow seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.
It is difficult to cut through.
