Trailbark Lime

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 73 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in fine, knobbly, light brown bark, and inside, the light wood is copper-coloured.

The numerous branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with handfuls of giant, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and yellow.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of small, beige blossoms with pleated petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like warm milk.

In mid-summer it produces , slender, 2 pointed fruit. The sticky lime skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy lime flesh is spicy and syrupy. The slate seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
Several parts of the fruit tree have medicinal properties.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
