Pink Bellflower

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 42 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of flexible, wavy stems covered in silky, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with small bunches of huge, very thin, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid washed-out green with washed-out green dots, sturdy and smooth.

In early spring it produces thick bunches of giant, pink flowers with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like a newborn baby.

It is suitable for making paper
