Bloodbloom

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its gray stem is thick and splits into 8 branching stems halfway up, and the tiny, gray leaves are white on the underside and are thick with smooth edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Two tiny flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with blood red petals and an ashy green central disk. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 21 raised, narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like a woman, and it has excessive amounts of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.
