Burgundy Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This big tree grows up to 88 meters (288.7 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 184 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, curved trunk covered in hard, knobbly, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is burgundy-brown.

The excessive amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of rough, small, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are light brown on the sides and slate at the center.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, crimson blossoms with spear shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like pineapple.

In late summer it forms giant, caramel, shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
The leaves and petals are often used to make tea.
