Burgundy Willow

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 253 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, slanted trunk covered in waxy, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is dark brown.

The sparse amount of branches are very short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of crispy, small, long, tapering leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are peach at the bottom and olive with bright green edges at the top.

In late summer it forms tiny, yellow, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
