Orange-Yellow Stem Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized cactus grows up to 43 feet (13.1 meters) tall. It splits randomly along the body to form 5 narrow stems. Each stem is orange-yellow, and is dotted with small orange spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 22 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with azure petals and a red central disk grows at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 4 raised, round-tipped petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like coconut.

The cactus's skin is thin, the cream flesh is rubbery, and the white sap is thin.

It is suitable for making paper
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
