Mahogany
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This large tree grows up to 85 meters (278.9 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 621 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a flexible, wavy trunk covered in knobbly, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is white.
The tangled mess of branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of sticky, large, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of lime green that gradient shifts to green at the top.
In early spring, it produces copious amounts of giant, orange blossoms with finger-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like rich perfume.
In late summer it forms large, black, spiky-shelled seeds.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
