Caramel

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, angular trunk covered in very thick, rough, light gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is copper-coloured.

The small handful of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of large, stiff, pointed leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either caramel, or cream with gold lines.

In early spring, it produces a handful of giant, bold blue blossoms with perforated petals. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like something putrid.

In early winter it produces tiny, 4 pointed fruit. The soft red skin is peel-able and slightly sweet, and the very soft cream flesh is bland and juicy. The hazel seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is slightly resistant to fire damage.
