Copperleaf
Flower type: Perennial (Sheds its leaves in winter)This average-sized flower grows up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is thin, and the miniature, burgundy leaves are light copper on the underside and are circular with wavy edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
4 to 10 large flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide, with amber petals on the lower layer and aquamarine petals decorated with bright yellow dots on the inner layer. The central disk is blue. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals in raised layers. They are hardy.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like a damp log, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
