Copperwood

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big tree grows up to 84 meters (275.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 527 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, wonky trunk covered in cracked, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is brown.

The excessive amount of branches trail down towards the ground, covered with large amounts of large, gray-green needles. The needles themselves are rigid.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, brown, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
