Brownfern

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 53 meters (173.9 feet) tall and lives for over 2,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 2079 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a sturdy, wavy trunk covered in knobbly, brown-green bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale yellow.

The abundance of branches trail down to the ground, with dozens of twigs covered with copious amounts of miniature, yellow needles. The needles themselves are durable.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, light grey, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
