Clinging Trumpetvine

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its brown stem is wispy, and the small, slate and grey leaves are light lime green on the underside and are long, tapering with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Around 50 giant flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with petals that are either sky blue or purple, with a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 15 tightly layered, narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like pine needles, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird and is ignored by most insect species.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
