Burgundy Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 615 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in smooth, burgundy bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pine-coloured.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with thick bunches of sticky, small, stiff, pointed leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either slate, or brown with intense red dots.

In late summer it forms small, light grey, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
