Blackberry

Flower type: Perennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big flower grows up to 6.5 feet (2.0 meters) tall. Its black stems grow in bunches of 6 and are wispy and straight, and the huge, moss green leaves are pleated with jagged edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single small flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 40 cm (15.7 inches) wide, with solid hazel petals and a green central disk. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. They are hardy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like fruity, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
