Copperfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a sturdy, crooked trunk covered in smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is black.
The branches are long and thick and are covered with large amounts of giant, very thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are slate on the sides and copper at the center.
In early spring, it produces bunches of medium-sized, red blossoms with fan-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have the faintest scent that smells like baby powder.
In early summer it produces large, stiff, pointed fruit. The crispy turquoise skin is delicate and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy slate flesh is bitter and sticky. The hazel seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
