Red Heath Moss

This red moss is commonly found growing in tiny clumps In heathlands.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps, and is overwhelmingly sturdy; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald circular capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release thousands of spores.
