Violet
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in ridged, black bark, and inside, the very light wood is white with black speckles.
The branches are long and slender and are covered with large amounts of giant, needle-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in violet and ashy blue varieties.
In early spring, it produces thousands of tiny, pale purple blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like leather.
In mid-autumn it produces , broad, flat fruit. The fuzzy pastel red skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy white flesh is sour and powdery. The orange seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
