Coppervine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This colossal shrub grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 149 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many thick, wonky stems covered in silky, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches are long and slender with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, shield-shaped, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are black and bold red, hardy and clammy.

In mid-summer it produces thousands of tiny, azure blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like lavender.

In early winter small circular fruits ripen. The hairy hazel skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the soft peach flesh is bitter and spicy and sticky. The cream seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The sap is copper.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
