Blackvine

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This giant tree grows up to 100 meters (328.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 680 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, twisting trunk covered in very thick, cracked, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of clammy, small, long, tapering leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid brown with amber zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces a handful of tiny, sky blue blossoms with circular petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like musk.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, light brown, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It commonly grows in large patches.
The leaves are overwhelmingly toxic, and very sweet.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
