Crimson Tide

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its stem)

This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its moss green stems grow in bunches of 3 and are very thick with a curved tip, and the large, red leaves are stiff, pointed with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single large flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 12 cm (4.7 inches) wide, with petals that are pink on the underside and white on the top. The flower head is largely flat with several tightly layered round-tipped petals. They detach easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like bleach, and it has very little pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
