Purple Needle Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 96 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in very thick, cracked, dark brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.
The excessive amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small amounts of leathery, huge, needle-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of gray that gradient shifts to purple at the top.
In late summer it forms tiny, deep yellow, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It comes in 15 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
