Copperleaf
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized tree grows up to 42 meters (137.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 105 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, angular trunk covered in waxy, brown and grey bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown-grey.
The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of smooth, large, long, tapering leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid blood red with copper splotches.
In late summer it forms small, light brown, winged seeds that float and land far away.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
