Blackwind Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This average-sized tree grows up to 60 meters (196.9 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 559 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a sturdy, twisting trunk covered in hard, silky, black bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.
The branches are long and thin and are covered with large amounts of smooth, large, slender, pointed leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid red with amber splotches.
In early spring, it produces handfuls of large, gold blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like new books.
In late summer it forms small, aquamarine berries.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
Several parts of the caudiciform have medicinal properties.
