Bloodvine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 69 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, crooked trunk covered in rough, silver bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale yellow.

The branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with thick bunches of large, slender, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid gold or grey, with green splotches.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, blood red blossoms with finger-like petals. They fall easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like paint.

In early winter it produces tiny, 7-shaped fruit. The waxy blood red skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is very savoury, and the crunchy bronze flesh is sour and sticky. The black seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
