Blackbark

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 262 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is dark brown.

The abundance of branches are short and thin and are covered with large amounts of waxy, tiny, needle-like leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are generally yellow.

In late summer it forms giant, lilac aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
